About Amit

From chasing snow leopards in Ladakh to building cutting-edge AI products: that’s Amit Mitra.

Amit Mitra spends his time chasing two things: stories and possibilities.

As a documentary filmmaker and photographer based in Bengaluru, Amit is fascinated by the relationship between people, wildlife, and the changing world around them. One of the few filmmakers to create a documentary on snow leopard conservation, he has also documented tigers in Bandhavgarh, rhinos in Kaziranga, and stories that explore both wildlife conservation and social issues.

Through films, photography, and field vlogs, Amit brings audiences closer to the people, places, and creatures that shape our world. His work seeks to create awareness while celebrating resilience, coexistence, and the beauty of the natural world.

A passionate storyteller, Amit draws inspiration from epic adventures, mystery, and imagination, and is a lifelong fan of Star Wars, Agatha Christie, and Sherlock Holmes.

Beyond the camera, Amit is an AI and innovation leader with over 25 years of experience in technology. He works with CGI, helping global organizations harness artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and digital innovation. For Amit, filmmaking and technology are driven by the same curiosity: understanding the world and imagining what comes next.

An Unavoidable Disagreement

A film on snow leopard conservation.

An Unavoidable Disagreement is a story of Snow Leopard’s relentless struggle – a struggle for existence in the face of human competition on one hand, and a struggle for its revival by the same human beings on the other.

In a fortnight’s journey to Ladakh, a cold desert in India, four members of Conservancy Efforts reveal some astonishing facts – of threats to these wild predators and also of efforts afoot to conserve the mystical snow leopards.

Conservancy Efforts is a non-profit group of IT professionals from Bangalore, India, creating films to increase awareness for conservation of the wild.

Lives Lost & Saved

A film on saving lives from road traffic accidents in Bangalore.

Lives Lost & Saved is an 18-minute documentary on road safety that examines the real-life consequences of traffic accidents in Bengaluru. Through the stories of accident victims, paramedics, doctors, and traffic police, the film reveals what happens in the critical moments after a crash and the efforts made to save lives.

The documentary highlights the risks of unsafe riding, helmet non-compliance, and drunk driving, while recognizing the dedication of emergency responders. More than a film about accidents, it is a call for responsible road behavior and greater awareness to prevent needless loss of life.
